Thai Food Festival
One whole week had passed. One whole RAINY week had passed. Today was the Thai food festival, held over the weekend in Shinpukan, a shopping mall in Kyoto City. My thai friends were either working at the food booths or participated in the performances, so I definately had to go and give my support! :)
Here are the photos from today's outing. I had great fun, despite the weather being so humid and my aching legs. Remind me never to wear high heels again!
Muay Thai or Thai kick boxing. Hmmm.....the boxers were not really into the whole thing, probably perhaps they were just amateurs. The most entertaining person there during the matches was the Thai commentator who was so excited that he made it seemed more exciting than it really was.
There were two matches. I think, out of the four participants, three were Japs!
I think I will definately go to Thailand and see a real Muay Thai match. Would be so exciting!
There were also Thai traditional performances. I have no idea what the names of the dances were cause they were complicated. Hey, thai friends! Help me out here with the names! Thanks!
This was the first dance, called the umbrella dance (?) or at least that is what I understood from the explanation.
Same performance. A close up look at the umbrella and the dancer's costume.
Second performance. This one had three dancers.
Second performance. Look at the elaborate hair costumes.
Lastly, this performance was more lively than the other two. I like this picture. A chance shot.
Now, pictures of my friends! I just realised that I didn't take everyone's pictures! Sorry to those whose pictures are not here! Gomen ne Pear, Yam, Ying etc!
Aw, the lovely commentator and the R&B singer!
The famous ryugakusei singers!
There they are again! Good job you guys! You all sang very well! Encore! Encore!
The Thai ryugakuseis getting ready to sing the last song, Sabai sabai. Er, did I spelt it right??
All in all, it was a fun outing! Thanks Pear, for "extra" mango juice! Haha! But, am not too happy with the pictures taken on the stage though because they are grainy, which always happens when the lighting condition is low and I cannot use my night view because I don't have a tripod. Oh yeah, if anyone wants copies of your pictures, please feel free to let me know yeah!
