Summer flowers
Saw this flower while I was parking my bike next to my lab's building. Love the yellow. Contrast and brightness adjusted.
This particular flower was blooming just above my bike. It is a perennial woody vine. Name : Passion flower. In Japan however, it is called *the clock plant* because of how similar the flower looks like to the face of the clock. We, my labmate and I, did not know the name of the flower but thanks to another labmate of mine, we found out the name.
Passion flower, side view. It is called Passion flower because it symbolizes the death of Christ or the crucifixion. The five sepals and five petals represent the disciples (ten of them, not including Peter and Judas), the outer fringe is the crown of thorns, the five stamens are the number of wounds Jesus received and the shape of the pistils represents the nails. Interesting huh?
Macro shot. Some of these species have scented flowers but this particular one does not. Yes, some of these species produce the delicious passion fruits. There are around 600 species of this plant.

A macro shot of a yellow flower (I will write the name of the flower tomorrow).
