Reflections

Why is it that whenever we gaze upon a lotus pond, we tend to feel calmer and more at peace with the world? I wanted to start this post with some philosophical musings about lotuses and inner peace but my brain is not co-operating with me on this issue.

I had some pretty good ideas about what to write a few nights ago before I went to sleep but I was too lazy to write them down. Needless to say, I forgot what I wanted to say. Note to self, write them down the next time!

Well, rather than to write something for the sake of writing something, I will just leave you to ponder about the question with these pictures. After all, a picture says a thousand words.

Tanjung Sepat

On our way back from Bagan Lalang, we stopped by this small fishing town called Tanjung Sepat in Kuala Langat. This town is famous for seafood, which is not surprising since it is, after all, a fishing town.

I passed by loads of processed fish, prawns and squids. I was tempted to buy some but refrained from doing so because I had no more room in my luggage. Plus, I didn't fancy having my clothes smell of dried sotong.

There was a rather long jetty on which I walked and took all these photos. The wide open sea. The bright blue sky. The dramatic clouds. The setting sun. Lovely.

We only stayed awhile. Most of us were hungry and we were heading over to Port Klang for our seafood dinner. Sadly enough, I wasn't able to fully appreciate the scrumptious dinner because I was not feeling well. Too much sun.

The continuation of Bagan Lalang

I have a little problem. I am running out of things to say about Bagan Lalang. Maybe I should have combined the two posts. Oh Well. Just ignore the text and focus on the pictures.

When at loss for words, talk about the weather. Right. As you can see, the sky was incredibly blue that day. We were lucky because during the days before, it was pouring and the haze was getting worse.

Weather? Check. Food? Although it was a nice place to have a picnic, it was way too hot and windy to eat anything there. And we were going to have a scrumptious seafood dinner in Port Klang later in the evening.

Weather? Check. Food? Check. Weird younger sister? My sister, attempting to do a flying kick.

My mum and sister trying to fly the kite. The two boys were bored of playing with it. They preferred to build sandcastles...... and then destroy them.

It was a good day out. Next time, we need a family holiday!

Bagan Lalang Part 1

A family day out at Bagan Lalang in Sepang on a very sunny Sunday afternoon. Despite the rather muddy looking sea, it was picturesque with the wide open beach and the stunning blue sky. It is a popular picnic spot for families.

When we went, it was just the start of the fasting month for the Muslims, so although it was a Sunday, there weren't that many people on the beach. The two boys had so much fun running around, catching the small crabs and building (or rather trying to build) sandcastles while the three sisters were busy with our cameras.

The place was perfect for my wide angle lens with its never-ending stretch of sandy beach. The blue sky and interesting cloud formations were just right for any black and white or colour pictures. I hadn't taken many pictures with my wide angle lens lately so I was rather happy to have the chance to use it again.

Distortions are a problem when using the wide angle lens but sometimes I like the distortions because it brings an interesting new aspect into the picture.

I realised I took too many black and white pictures and had to remind myself to switch to colour. I also didn't use any polarizing filters for the lens which was a problem as the light was rather strong, creating harsh contrasts in the pictures (although I like the effect in some pictures).

More pictures coming up in Part 2 but I am running out of things to say about Bagan Lalang....
