A Bar
A Bar is this cool, funky place located somewhere along Sanjo-Shijo Kiyamachi street. To this day, I am still not sure if I know how to get there by myself! Haha!
The interior is entirely decorated by wood, posters, colourful throw rugs as well as scribbles from customers on the tables, photos, name cards and anything anyone can stick on the walls. The decor gives the place a more comfy, welcoming feel.
There are long tables with long chairs, forcing you to share with other customers, so you are forced to make friends. If you want a quiet place, forget A bar. You must be prepared to have your conversations listened to, interrupted or having to repeat yourself over and over again over the noise. However, most of the people there are very friendly (well, after a few drinks, everyone is friendly) and at times, especially if you are a gaijin, you will get free drinks from other customers as well!
Don't be fooled by the pictures; the place is not usually this empty! In fact, it is, more often than not, filled to the brim with Japanese and foreign customers as well as rowdy. We went there quite early, way before midnight and therefore we were the only ones in the room, except for two other customers. It was quite a change, an atmosphere of peace and quiet compared to its usually boisterous self.
