Strawberries with a twist!

I bought a pack of strawberries which looked yummy - all red, juicy and big. The joke was on me though because only a few of them were sweet and the rest were just sad. Should have bought sweetened milk with the strawberries to make it better.

So anyway, before I ate them all, I took some pictures of them with my Spiderman figurines and Catwoman.

Yes, it is bad to play with your food but hey, it was fun!

The strawberries looked good right? Don't be fooled!

Then I ran out of figurines that could go with the strawberries so I had to stopped. Of course it took me awhile to take all these pictures because of the lighting but I had fun.

I thought of writing something to go with these photos but I decided to let the photos do the talking.

Celebrating love

Today is Valentine's Day. According to Japanese tradition, I should have already made/bought loads of chocolates and by now, had given them away to people I like (not necessarily to guys apparently - just to people you like). In return, there is White Day which is the day the guys are suppose to return the favour by giving white chocolates to the girls, although according to Wiki, the men had misinterpreted the phrase White Day to mean giving lingerie? Ah....devious minds!

Oh well, since it is a "special" day today, I would like to share one of my favourite poems with you:

Jenny kissed me when we met
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your lists, put that in:

Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have missed me,
Say I'm growing old, but add
Jenny kissed me

-Leigh Hunt-

A simple, charming poem.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Glorious food

Nothing like a beautifully laid out dessert course to whet the appetite! This was taken last year during my annual conference trip. It was our conference dinner - lots of socializing, getting contacts, drinking.....well for the others. For me, I was, for most of the time, standing apart, being the outsider in a world where so many had known each other for ages.

So to entertain myself, I ate and I ate and I ate. Heck, after all, I paid for the food, so I might as well get my money's worth. And the food was good. A nice spread of Japanese and western food. Lots of sushi and sashimi.

Having eaten our fill of the food, we waited with baited breath for the desserts to make an appearance. And what an appearance. They looked so good! We made a beeline straight to the table, ahead of the rest who were still busy talking and loaded up our plates! :)
