Fushimi-Momoyama
My Japanese host aunt took me to see this fire festival that was held in her hometown in Fushimi-Momoyama. However, I had forgotten the name of this festival and the reason this festival was held. I will update this post when I get the information I need. I do know however that it was held around the same time as the Kurama Fire Festival......I think.
The start of the parade. You can see the flames from afar. Against the dark of night, it made a stunning view.
Ashes were flying and landing everywhere...on my clothes, my camera....the heat was amazing. And I got sprayed with water a couple of times. They were spraying water to keep the carriers cool.
Another view of the parade.
The close up view of the flames. I can see why some people are so fascinated with fire. It is beautiful.
I thought of this as the ghostly parade....you can see the spectators clearly but everything else is blur...and I think that was someone's head at the bottom left corner.
